I watched this film recently on TV. A lot of movies with Charlton Heston have played recently since his death. I hadn't watched it for at least 30 years. One scene in this movie was really good. It's where Gordon was in the Mahdi's camp speaking to him in person.Gordon was a religious man who had always sought to work within God's will in his military career. He came to a realization after speaking to the Mahdi that they were very similar since each was seeking to follow the will of god even though they were in opposition to each other. It was pretty good imho.
The events portrayed in this scene never actually occured since Gordon and the Mahdi never actually met but it was still thought provoking. Mankind has been dealing with this same dilemna for centuries.I think this old movie is well worth watching.
